EOS GmbH

Founded in 1989, German’s EOS has played a central role in the development of Additive Manufacturing. Dr. Hans J. Langer and Dr. Hans Steinbichler founded EOS, and the company is, “a pioneer and world leader in the field of Direct Metal Laser sintering (DMLS) and provider of a leading polymer technology.”

Dr. Langer, EOS CEO, continues to advance manufacturing and the future of 3D printing through investments in innovative start-up companies and leading other manufacturing initiatives.

Arcam AB

Arcam AB was founded in 1997, and has developed the, “leading technology for Additive Manufacturing of fully dense metal parts, Electron Beam Melting (EBM).” The Swedish company holds over 100 patents and continues to file applications for new inventions.

Based in Sweden, Arcam AB was acquired by GE last year. In an interview with 3D Printing Industry Magnus René, CEO, told us about some of the applications of Arcam’s unique technology. One application used by GE is the manufacture of low-pressure turbine blades from the super-alloy, titanium aluminide.

Renishaw Plc.

British company, Renishaw was founded by Sir David McMurtry and John Deer in 1973. Renishaw are a, “leading manufacturer of advanced metal additive manufacturing systems and expert provider of customer tailored solutions.”

The company has a network of Global Solutions Centers, with sites in Canada, the United Kingdom, India and Shanghai. When 3D Printing Industry spoke to Marc Saunders, Renishaw’s director of Global Solutions Centers, he explained, “I think the vision really is that additive is going to take its place as mainstream manufacturing process in the next few years for making advanced parts.”

Renishaw are active across key Additive Manufacturing verticals including Healthcare and Aerospace.
