MakerBot Replicator 2X Experimental 3D Printer

EXPLORE THE FRONTIERS OF 3D PRINTING

With a full-featured desktop 3D printer and experimental dual
extrusion. Designed for daredevils and 3D printing experts.

DUAL EXTRUSION

Add anew level of creativity to your 3D designs with two interlaced
colors that you can print through precisely aligned dual nozzles –
without swabbing or pausing.

OPTIMIZED FOR ABS FILAMENT

Make snaps, living hinges, threaded objects and more with a ductile,
petroleum thermoplastic with elastic deformation properties. Control
heating and cooling better with a superflat heated aluminum build
plate and a clear, six-sided, draft-blocking enclosure that helps
prevent uneven cooling, shrinking and cracking.

100-MICRON LAYER RESOLUTION

Speed your way to demonstrations and presentations with settings
that range from fast-draft to finer resolution. Get smooth-to-the-touch
surfaces that don’t need sanding, finishing or post-production.

EXPERIMENT AND ADVANCE

Quickly iterate to verify your designs and catch flaws sooner. Use your
own physical models for collaboration and to bring better products to
market, faster. Save money with the best price/performance in
desktop 3D printing.

  1. Stay away from Makerbot and the Replicator 2X – Unfortunately, So much promise… I purchased a Replicator 2X, Makercare, and a few hundred dollars worth of ABS filament in Nov of 2013.I received it, unpackaged, leveled the build plate and printed the nut and bolt that come pre loaded. It was a fascinating experience to have a additive process rather than the cutting I am used to with my Shopbot PRT Alpha and my OKK MCV-300 (but CNC milling). When I went to put them together you could not screw them together because they were out of round. I called…

  2. Great for educational use! I don’t usually write reviews for products but wanted to chime in as a response to a less favorable review. I purchased a Replicator 2X last spring and use it primarily in my engineering classroom. So far we’ve logged a little over 450 hours of build time and it has really hit its stride now to the tune of a 95%+ successful print rate when using ABS filament. It is important to note that this printer is designed to print with ABS and not PLA. This is why it is fully enclosed and…
